Tania Christoffelsz, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist

Psychotherapist Tania Christoffelsz supports children and young adults presenting with moderate to profound mental health issues. Through one-to-one therapy, Tania focusses on a spectrum of issues including emotional dysregulation, suicidal ideation, body dysmorphia, self-harm, depression and anxiety, low confidence, ritualistic behaviour and OCD, bereavement, and poor interpersonal skills. She also helps clients with comorbid health problems and disabilities. Providing ongoing care and treatment, Tania helps young people and their families following formal diagnosis of autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Tania also works with parents with pre- and post-natal challenges, attachment issues and relationship issues.

Additionally, she supports parents in group settings, coaching adult care givers on how to implement a Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) parenting approach, and a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach for children with difficult behaviour. Trained in Systemic Therapy, Tania offers family support services aimed at improving parents’ skills in helping their child’s recovery at home.

Tania has practiced within NHS IAPT (now ‘NHS Talking Therapies’), GP surgeries, inpatient care units and the community. Working alongside Home Treatment teams, Community Care coordinators, social workers, teachers and sports services, Tania has gained a deep understanding of mental health concerns presented alongside social and cultural differences.

Accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Tania brings with her more than 18 years of experience working in mental health, gained in the public sector, third sector, private institutions and a special needs school.

Tania’s practice focusses on supporting her clients with empathy and understanding, free from judgement. Having worked with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, Tania takes a creative approach to exploring her clients’ mental health issues. She helps and educates individuals to reach their potential and achieve their long-term goals of managing their mental health, preventing crisis, improving interpersonal skills, integrating into their community and living life with confidence.
