Simon Shattock, Family Psychotherapist
Simon provides individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as therapeutic support for couples and families. He has extensive experience in working systemically with clients who have been diagnosed with ADHD and those experiencing anorexia, self-harm, trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioural challenges. In his couples and family work, Simon helps to reduce distress in relationships, particularly in situations of high expressed emotion, and he supports families navigating divorce or separation.
Simon also works with clients facing more complex or acute difficulties, including OCD, domestic violence, sexual abuse, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, and psychosis. He offers both short- and medium-term interventions, drawing on a systemic framework to create meaningful and lasting change.
He is a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice. After completing a BA and Diploma in Social Work at Middlesex University London, Simon gained a Master’s in Systemic Psychotherapy from The Tavistock Centre, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in CYP IAPT for children and adolescents from University College London and King’s College London. Most recently, he was awarded an Advanced Diploma with distinction in Systemic Supervision from the Institute of Family Therapy. He is currently a Systemic Tutor at The Tavistock Centre and provides independent training for the Family Mediators Association.
Simon works holistically and collaboratively, ensuring that every client’s background, culture, and personal circumstances are respected and understood. He is skilled at helping clients find calm and clarity during stressful or overwhelming situations, and he works closely with colleagues when appropriate to ensure comprehensive, wrap-around support.
