Lucille Balcombe, CBT Therapist

Lucille specialises in providing CBT for young adults, adolescents and children. Having worked in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for over 30 years and in private practice, Lucille offers a compassionate and non-judgmental space in which to work together with the young person in addressing presenting difficulties. Lucille’s specialisms include a range of emotional and behavioural conditions including neurodevelopmental difficulties.

As a registered mental health nurse (achieved in 1988), Lucille’s work within a NHS mental health trust in North London, spans seven years as Clinical Nurse Manager before being appointed in a senior role as Lead Nurse CAMHS/Safeguarding since 2005, acting in both a teaching and advisory role.

Using advanced analytical and interpersonal skills within her direct clinical work, including assessments and interventions, Lucille ensures successful outcomes for children and their parents.

Lucille offers parenting, individual and family group work and provides expert treatment for ADHD, anxiety and depression, using a range of modalities including CBT.

Working within a group of group health professionals, Lucille developed an MSc in Transdisciplinary Working in child mental health at Brunel University, whilst working as an Associate Lecturer. Collaborating with City University, Lucille developed an MSc in Inter-Professional practice (CAMHS), seeing it through the process of validation. Upon completion, she taught as a Visiting Lecturer.

Lucille’s publications include ‘Engagement with People who self-harm’, Mental Health Practice 2011. She has also participated in conferences on ADHD, having led workshops and contributed to the teaching on the non-medical prescribing course.
