Dr Louisa Beckford, Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Louisa Beckford is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in general adult psychiatry, supporting adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, trauma‑related difficulties, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and complex presentations where emotional and psychological challenges overlap. Louisa is known for her warm, caring and thoughtful approach, offering careful and compassionate assessments and creating a space where people feel genuinely heard, understood and supported. She takes a collaborative approach to treatment, paying close attention to each person’s wider psychological, physical and social context, and tailoring care to meet their individual needs and goals.
Alongside her general adult psychiatry work, Louisa is a specialist in eating disorders and has worked extensively within both NHS and private eating disorder services. Her experience spans inpatient, day patient and outpatient settings, as well as delivering treatment online. She supports individuals with a broad range of eating difficulties, often alongside co‑existing mental health and physical conditions, and places strong emphasis on continuity of care and building trusting relationships. Louisa works closely with psychological therapists and multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with approaches such as CBT‑E, CAT, CFT and family‑based models to ensure well‑integrated treatment.
In addition to her clinical work, Louisa is experienced in teaching and supervising other professionals and is committed to reflective, evidence‑based practice.
