Dr Jeya Balakrishna, Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Jeya Balakrishna is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 35 years’ experience working across the NHS, Ministry of Defence, and independent practice. He has particular expertise in general adult psychiatry, trauma, occupational mental health, and forensic psychiatry, and is known for his compassionate, person-centred approach. His clinical work has included leading crisis and community teams, supporting military personnel and reservists, and advising on complex workplace wellbeing issues – experience which translates into a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in demanding professional and personal circumstances.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Balakrishna is actively involved in teaching, mentoring and advisory roles. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, where he has contributed to national work on suicide prevention and patient safety, and he lectures at London medical schools. He is also a published author on veterans’ mental health, trauma, and relationship issues.
