Dr Jon Goldin, Consultant Psychiatrist

In addition to his role at The Soke, Jon is an Honorary Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He was Head of Service on the Mildred Creak Unit for 21 years and retired from the NHS in February 2023. Before that, he was the Joint Head of Department in Psychological and Mental Health Services (PAMHS). Dr Goldin was also Joint Training Programme Director for the Great Ormond Street/Royal London Higher Training Scheme in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health.

He is the College Lead on Parliamentary Engagement at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Goldin was the Vice Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Faculty at the Royal College of Psychiatrists from 2017-2021. In 2022 he was awarded ‘RCPsych Psychiatric Communicator of the Year’. He has an interest in public engagement and lobbying around CAMHS and mental health issues and has been interviewed widely on both TV and radio.

Education

Jon completed degrees in Medicine and in Psychology at Manchester University and subsequently worked in Paediatrics, obtaining the Diploma in Child Health. He then trained in Psychiatry on the Royal Free Hospital rotation and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the Tavistock Clinic rotation in London.
