Alice Carter, Speech & Language Therapist

Alice Carter, Neurodevelopment Practitioner and Speech & Language Therapist

Alice brings over 20 years’ experience working within NHS Primary Health Care Trusts, private practice and educational settings, supporting children, families and schools. She specialises in comprehensive neurodevelopmental and speech-language assessments for children and young people, helping to identify communication, social, developmental and learning needs.

Trained in the SCERTS model of intervention and The Hanen Centre’s “More Than Words” programme, Alice integrates evidence-based approaches that support social communication, emotional regulation and interaction. She is also qualified to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) and works within a multidisciplinary neurodiversity team contributing to differential diagnosis.

As part of her role as a Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, Alice carries out early-stage screening assessments for children who may present with neurodevelopmental needs, including indicators of ADHD, Autism, and behavioural or emotional-regulation difficulties. Her assessments explore current concerns alongside developmental and medical history to build a clear, holistic picture of each child’s profile. She then provides clear guidance on whether formal diagnostic assessment or further specialist input, such as educational psychology, speech and language therapy or therapeutic support would be appropriate.

Alice’s approach is warm, collaborative and family-centred, aiming to provide clarity, direction and practical recommendations that support each young person’s communication, learning and overall development.
