Dr Adrienn Cox, Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Cox is a highly experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with more than 15 years of experience working across NHS and independent healthcare services. She is known for her warm, compassionate, and evidence-based approach, supporting children, young people, and their families through a collaborative and person-centred model of care. Her work focuses on developing a thorough understanding of each individual's strengths, needs, and goals, helping families navigate emotional, behavioural, developmental, and mental health challenges.

Dr Cox has particular expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD and autism spectrum conditions. Trained in both ADOS-2 and ADI-R, she has extensive experience conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments and providing clear, evidence-based recommendations tailored to the needs of children, families, schools, and other professionals involved in their care.

Alongside her neurodevelopmental work, Dr Cox has substantial experience supporting young people with a broad range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, and complex psychiatric presentations. She also has specialist expertise in eating disorders, having served as Clinical Lead for a CAMHS Eating Disorder Service, where she led multidisciplinary teams and supported children and adolescents with complex eating and mental health needs.

Throughout her career, she has held a number of senior clinical and leadership roles. She has worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical leadership, specialist assessments, treatment planning, and supervision across both community and specialist CAMHS services. She has also been actively involved in service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives, helping to enhance care pathways and outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Cox maintains a strong interest in research, education, and service innovation. She has contributed to research projects investigating psychosis and other mental health conditions, carried out clinical audits, and led quality improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening assessment processes and service delivery. Her commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that her practice remains informed by the latest evidence and best-practice guidance
